History of Scouting In Lebanon

In 1912, scouting was introduced to lebanon by two teachers who came from england, Abdul Satar and Abdul Jabar el Kliairi. they established the first Scout troop in the school owned by El Hibri, where they worked. This troop had lots of activities later including a trip to Istanbul, Turkey, where they met Ottoman sultan Mehmed V. Members of this troop played a great role in spreading Scouting in Lebanon and other countries.
After WWI, Scouting spread rapidly, to cover every part of the country, but not in a unified manner. thus the necessity for a federation grouping the different scouting associations and being the link between them and the World Scout Organization.
In 1961, an official statement certified the new Lebanese Boy scouts Federation (decree # 392). In November of that same year, a new federation was formed and it included all the scouts associations.
The Lebanese Scouting Federation is a recognised National Scout Organizations. many Lebanese scotsmasters have been awarded the Bronze Wolf, the only distinction of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, awarded by the World Scout Committee for exceptional services to world Scouting: Muhammad Toufik El Hibri (1973), Dr. Farid Karam (1977) and Rashid Shoucair (1981).
